Once the computer boots to the iron key the first time, you will be prompted by an IronKey workstation preboot screen. Now you should be able to boot to the IronKey!

This command will take some time to finish (10ish minutes). In my case, the F: drive is the location of the mounded source media (windows 8) and the E: drive is the OS partition on the IronKey. imagex.exe /apply F:\sources\install.wim 1 E:\ This command applies the image to the OS partition. I am on 64 bit so I change the directory to amd64: cd amd64. change the directory to the one corresponding to the architecture of your computer. cd “C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools” (if windows 7. Mount the windows 8 iso using Virtual Clone Drive or Windows 8 Explorer if using Windows 8. Now the disk is ready for the windows installation. select disk n, where n is the disk number. Start an elevated command prompt (Run as administrator). Now we’re ready to partition and clean the device. Go to my computer, and you should see a new disk that has been mounted. This tool allows for the decryption of the operating system partition so Windows 8 can be installed on it. When you boot to the IronKey initially, the preboot partition will allow for the access of the operating system partition, and upon reboot to the IronKey, the computer will boot to the Windows 8 operating system.įirst we’re going to need a couple things.
